It takes a single breath
to give & to get
to choose different
and make the most
of this moment.

Created a 2025 calendar this weekend as a holiday gift for family and friends. Cheers to infinite skies ahead (and productive focused weekends dedicated to creating) .
And if I’ll be honest – the process of creating this is as much gift to me as it is (and perhaps more so) for those I’ll offer this to.
Happy Holidays!

Life is often a paradox
A little less, a little more
But never what you expect
That you’re after.
The sheer relief
Where cancelled plans
Are regarded as a gift.
The goal that is finally
In your hands,
Didn’t make you any less
Nor any more happy.
A clear page, with nothing done
Makes for a fulfilled day,
And when one is busy
Is where one feels most empty
Re-read some of my poems today as I create a personalized calendar for the holidays. I’m in awe of the wisdom of my previous words, and how most still ring true. I want to tell them – I’m still here. Fighting!

Take a step back
If this doesn’t
Work out
You’ll be fine
In your arsenal
Is hope, like fine wine
So don’t whine
But instead breathe
And if need be - leave.
You’ll still survive
And make your way
Back to thrive.

Often overlooked, even taken for granted. But kindness? At our darkest moments, it’s the spark that warms the will. Barely a whisper. But reminding us in echoes loud and clear. To go on. Until the spark is a fire that turns the tide. Finally.
To grow up kind is to live a life. Live. As a light a catalyst, as an ember a pacifist, as a way of being — more than existing.

Also, my first prose poety.
Can a life be the final two hours
before a day is capped,
Simply trying to make sense
Or catch-up on what matters
Far too many times I get lost
In trying to justify the hours
I wanted to just cease
A fight that’s not worth
And cut lies and ties
Escape somewhere else
Perhaps somewhere better
Only to realize what counts —
Well I don’t know quite honestly.
All I know, is that the day
Is far from over. So am I.

Coffee shops and quick escapes
Long walks and introspection
Laughing and lining things
With silver through action.
Same are gold and rocks
And despite feeling a bit lost
You’re not a lost cause
Any time now, you’ll find
Amidst the regrets
What’s intact are the roots
The dreams, and colors, even
Courage and breakthroughs.
For now just get through
Take a step or two.

There is so much
one can't see amidst
the surface, hidden
in plain sight
existing despite
the pep talks --
stifled shouts
alternate routes.
But, beyond the doubts
there is space for
silver linings, ones
you can control
and loved ones
who're there
every summer & fall
then you rise
not just once
and face battles --
a brave beautiful
albeit invisible
dance.

Rain’s continuous
Flow echoes
A state of silence
Where one hears
What one yearns for
(c) Artherese, 2024
The mind’s a buzzing
The heart is racing
But still you choose
The discipline
Of starting, creating.
This simple act
Done consistently —
definition of bravery.
